Note: For all events, the cost of IVV credit only is $3.  For non-credit participants, the fee is $2.  Awards may be be available at the discretion of the event organizer - prices vary.

January 2, 2010 - Coon Rapids Snowshoe - Start Point: Coon Rapids Dam Visitor Center - 9750 Egret Blvd, Coon Rapids 55433

Times: Start between 11am and 2:30pm, must finish by 4:30pm

Description: 4k & 8k. Snowshoe route will consist of two 4k loops. One will be in a wooded area and the other along the river and open meadows. Snowshoes available for rent ($5 for 2 hours).

Rating: 1, no pets allowed, not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs

Directions: From east or west I-694, go north on E River Rd (turns into Coon Rapids Blvd) to Egret Blvd. Left on Egret for 0.3 mi into the park entrance. Park entrance fee ($5 daily or $20 yearly parking pass required)

January 16, 2010 - HarMar Mall Walk - Start Point: HarMar Mall - 2100 Snelling Ave., Roseville (located on the corner of Snelling Avenue and County Road B)

Times: Start from 8am - 11am, finish by 1pm

Description: 5k & 10k. A warm, indoor walk of multiple laps entirely within the mall.

Rating: 1, no pets

Directions: From Hwy 36: Exit at Snelling Ave and proceed south. Har Mar Mall will be on the left. Park on the west side of the Mall. Start point is in front of the Barnes & Noble Book Store inside the main hallway of the mall.

February 20, 2010 - Mall of America Walk - Start Point: Walking Company - South 108 on Level 1 of the Mall of America - Bloomington, MN

Times: Start after 7:30am, finish by 11am

Description: 5k & 10k. The walk route is entirely within the Mall of America.

Rating: 1, no pets

Directions: The Mall of America is located between 24th Ave S and Cedar Ave, just south of I-494. Go east or west on I-494 to Cedar Ave (Hwy 77), exit 2C, then take Killebrew Dr, parking at the West entrance of the Mall. Once inside the West entrance, turn left and walk to the Walking Company Store on Level 1.

March 13, 2010 - St. Paul YMCA Skyway Walk - Start Point: St. Paul Skyway YMCA, 194 East 6th Street in Galtier Plaza Building, St. Paul, MN 

Times: Start from 8am - 1pm, finish by 3pm

Description: 5k & 10k.  Walk is entirely in the skyway system of St. Paul. Note the many interesting shops and businesses.

Rating: 1, no pets

Special Programs: Authors & Literary Landmarks, Railroad Heritage

Directions: Galtier Plaza is located at the corner of 6th St E and Sibley St.  Walk will be starting from the 2nd floor skyway level (in the YMCA building) within Galtier Plaza, follow signs to the Skyway Y.  There are many possible downtown exits from the freeways.  Parking fees are likely in ramps or at parking meters.

April 10, 2010 - Northfield Walk - Start Point: Northfield High School - 1400 Division St. S., Northfield

Times: Start from 9am - 11am, finish by 1pm

Description: 5k & 10k.  The 5k is entirely on city sidewalks with a slight hill on the route.  The 10k will include some trails in the Cowling Arboretum on the Carleton College Campus.  There will be some steep gravel and sandy hills in the arboretum.

Rating: 5k: 1+, 10k: 3, pets okay

Special Programs: Historic Churches

Directions: From I-35, take exit 69 (for MN 19 - the New Prague/Northfield exit).  East on MN 19 and follow it into town where it turns into Fifth St.  Turn right at Division St.  The high school is through town and on your right.

May 15, 2010 - Como Park Walk - Start Point: Coffee Grounds - 1579 Hamline Ave., Falcon Heights

Times: Start from 8am - 2pm, finish by 4pm

Description: 5k & 10k.  Walk around Lake Como and visit the Como Park Conservatory and Zoo while walking through the scenic Como Park area.  Admission to the zoo and conservatory is free, but they ask for voluntary donations of $2 for adults and $1 for children.

Rating: 1+, no pets

Special Programs: Authors & Literary Landmarks, Railroad Heritage

Directions: Take Snelling Ave. (north or south) to Hoyt Ave.  Go east on Hoyt to Hamline Ave.  Turn left (north) on Hamline and go approximately 100ft and you will see the Coffee Grounds on the left side of Hamline.

June 26, 2010 - Lakewood Cemetery Walk - Start Point: Dunn Bros Coffee - corner of Hennepin Ave. & W 34th St., Minneapolis

Times: Start after 8am, finish by 4pm

Description: 5k & 10k.  Walk on blacktop road, sidewalks and (for the 10k) woodchip trail and turf.  Walk through one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the United States.  Historic 250 acre Lakewood Cemetery is the resting place of many prominent local citizens, contains numerous examples of noteworthy cemetery art (including its highly-acclaimed Memorial Chapel) and displays 100,000 flowers from one of the largest cemetery greenhouse operations in the country.  The 10k route also includes the Loon Lake Trolley Path along the hillside above Lake Calhoun.

Rating: 2, pets okay

Directions: From I-35W in south Minneapolis, take Exit 14 (36th St/35th St).  Go west on E 35th St for 2 blocks to Nicollet Ave S, then left 1 block to W 36th St.  Turn right and go 1 mile to Hennepin Ave, then right 2 blocks to the start point on the corner of Hennepin Ave and W 34th St.  There should be plenty of on-street parking available on the side streets.

July 24, 2010 - Battle Creek Park Walk - Start Point: Battle Creek Regional Park - 2401 Upper Afton Rd E, Maplewood

Times: Start from 8am - noon, finish by 2pm

Description: 5k & 12k.  Walk consists of two loops - 5k and 7k.  The 5k loop follows the cross-country ski trails along a wooded, paved path.  The 7k trail follows a paved path along the creek to the park area off of Hwy 61 and returns on city sidewalks and paved trails.

Rating: 1+, pets okay

Directions: From I-94, exit on McKnight Rd and head south to Upper Afton Rd.  Left on Upper Afton to the 1st parking area on the LEFT.  Start Point is at the picnic shelter, which is west of the Battle Creek Waterworks Family Aquatic Center.

August 7, 2010 - White Bear Walk - Start Point: Polar Lake Park - 1281 Hammond Rd, White Bear Township

Times: Start from 8am - 1pm, finish by 3pm

Description: 6k & 10k.  The walk is on paved trails past ponds, a lake, and through Optimist Park.  Also, walk part of the turf trails in the Tamarack Nature Center.  Wildlife may be seen during the walk.  No pets allowed in the Nature Center.

Rating: 1+, no pets

Directions: From I-35E north, exit right (east) on Hwy 96 to the first stop light (which is on White Bear Pkwy) and turn left (north).  Proceed on White Bear Pkwy until you turn left (north) on Township Pkwy (Polar Lake Park sign on corner).  Continue on Township Pkwy to stop sign.  Turn left on Hammond Rd to upper parking lot at Polar Lake Park.

September 11, 2010 - Murphy-Hanrehan Park Walk - Start Point: 15501 Murphy Lake Road, Savage

Times: Start after 8am, finish by 3pm

Description: 10k & 16k.  This is a multi-loop walk consisting of a 4k and two 6k routes, for a total of 16k (10 miles).  Some ski trails, meadow overlooks, forest trails and dog route.  Dogs are allowed leashed on some parts of the trail, but not all.

Rating: 2, pets okay

Directions: Take I-35W south to the County Rd 46 exit in Lakeville.  Turn right (west) onto Co Rd 46, which will become Klamath Tr as it crosses Co Rd 5 (traffic light).  Klamath Tr bends to the left (south) and starts back east.  Turn right (south) onto 168th St W, crossing the railroad tracks.  168th St turns right (west) becoming Judicial Rd (stop sign).  Judicial Rd bends left (south).  Turn right (west) on 170th St W.  170th St W becomes 170th St E (gravel begins).  170th St E becomes Sunset Lake Blvd as it enters the park.  The horse-camp parking lot is on the left, about 1/2 mile into the park.  Park in the horse-camp lot or on the entrance road to the lot.  (Group camping will be availabe on Friday night, starting at 3pm - contact Paul to reserve a spot.)

October 23, 2010 - Wood Lake Nature Center Walk - Start Point: 6710 Lake Shore Drive S., Richfield

Times: Start from 9am - 1pm, finish by 3pm

Description: 5k & 10k.  Woodchip trails and sidewalks.  A natural refuge consisting of a 150 acre marsh, prairie, and woodland in the midst of the bustling city life.  The 10k route also includes the nearby Richfield Lake and the newly-developed mixture of business and high-rise residential neighborhood.  After your walk, enjoy the many exhibits in the nature center building, as well the nearby picnic area.

Rating: 1+, no pets

Directions: From I-35W, take exit 10 (West 66th St) and go east.  At the first stop light, turn right onto Lake Shore Dr.  The nature center parking lot will be on the right.

November 6, 2010 - Annual Meeting Guided Walk - Start Point: Elim Church - 685 13th Ave NE, Minneapolis

Times: registration starts at 9am, 10k walkers will leave promptly at 9:30 and 5k will leave at 10am

Description: 5k & 10k.  Walk through historic 'Nordeast' and SE Minneapolis, past the art district, walk onto Nicollet Island, past Saint Anthony Falls and along the Mississippi River.  The 5k will not go as far as the Falls.  After the walk, meet back at the church for the annual meeting, elections, and lunch.

Rating: 1+, pets okay

Directions: From I-94, take the W Broadway exit and turn east on W Broadway to Monroe St NE.  Left on Monroe.  Go 1 block and turn left on 13th Ave NE to the church (across from Logan Park).  From the north or south on University Ave, turn east on Broadway St NE to Monroe St NE.  Left on Monroe 1 block, and left on 13th Ave NE to the church.  On-street parking.  Enter at Madison St door.

December 11, 2010 - Christmas Walk - Start Point: Minneapolis YMCA - 30 South 9th St, (Skyway Level / LaSalle Building)

Times: Start from 9:30am - 1:30pm, finish by 3:30pm

Description: This walk is entirely within the Minneapolis Skyway System, beautifully decorated for the holidays.  The Holidazzle Parade begins at 6pm on Nicollet Mall.  Very festive walk.

Rating: 1, no pets

Directions: From the south, take I-35W north, exiting downtown at 9th St.  Turn left and park in the LaSalle ramp on the corner of LaSalle and 9th.  From the north, go east on I-94.  Take the 4th St exit and go to 1st Ave N.  Turn right on 1st Ave, left on 8th St, and right on LaSalle Ave to the parking ramp.  Parking fees apply in the ramps.
