AVA Special Programs

The following is a list of AVA Special Programs and the TCV events that qualify for each.  For your convenience, I've also included the program's deadline, the number of stamps needed, and the number of TCV events that qualify.  For more detailed iinformation about the special programs, please visit www.ava.org/SpecialEventPrograms/programs.htm.

After purchasing the Special Program books, there is no additional cost for stamping the books.  These books do not replace the regular books for IVV Achievement Awards.  Be sure to stamp your event and distance books as well.

* 50 State and 51 Capitol programs:  Books are available for $5.00.  If you wish to collect both states and capitols, you will need to purchase two books - one for each achievement award.  For the basic package, you are entitled to a personalized certificate - free with the purchase of the book.  The deluxe package entitles you to a certificate, patch and t-shirt for $25.00.

The 50 State and 51 Capitol programs are retroactive.  You may write in your previous achievements in these record books.  As you participate in new events, you may use the official stamp to record your accomplishment in these books.  There are no rules as to which events "count" in these books.  This is your personal goal.  You decide whether the stamp counts if the event goes by the capitol building or the event is entirely in the state you are trying to collect.  No stamp will be disqualified.

* Master Program:  This program is for adults and youths that participate together in volkssporting, and it recognizes adults who mentor youth in the physical fitness aspect of the sport.  The program also involves youth groups, mostly scouts, who participate in volkssports.  No previous experience is necessary.  The AVA will recognize adult/youth teams who participate together in at least 12 sanctioned volkssporting events for distance credit during the calendar year.  Adults will earn the rating of "AVA Master Volkssporter."  Youths will earn the rating of "AVA Volkssporter."  The award consists of a certificate for each team member and a medal.  Subsequent awards will be indicated by numbered star pins.

Teams must include at least one adult and at least one youth that volkssport for distance credit together.  An adult is anyone who is at least 19 during the calendar year that the award is earned.  Youth must be old enough to walk, bike or ski by their own power.  Adults may be registered on more than one team, but will only pay one fee and receive one award for the year.  Applications are available by writing to AVA Headquarters or online at http://www.ava.org/master.htm.
